Why "popoki"? Because my surname is so hard to pronounce!
Hi! My name is Agata and I’m a little unusual artist from Poland. I live in the Netherlands with the rest of popoki team, my two lovely cats, Krotka and Atraktor.
Thanks to chips and tea supplementation, I manage to make humorists pieces of art, with a dose of vicious commentary.
I try to break the pattern of thinking that a light form equals a light message and a strong and drastic form caries heavy one.
Currently, I will also create works in English and Dutch, because when translating from Polish, the works lose their meaning and character. Wish me luck!
I love drawing cats of all kinds! It was these *purring* creatures that inspired the name under which I am currently creating.
The Hawaiian word for cat is “popoki”
Doesn’t that sound adorable?
It’s definitely easier to pronounce than my surname – Kacprzak. And when I think of Hawaii (it’s besides pineapple on the pizza) my first association are the beautiful hibiscus flowers that completed the look of my logo.
When I’m not illustrating, I’m making up ‘poor rap’ songs, cooking tomato soup and rollerblading (no worries, do each of these activities separately!).
If you think I’m the person who can help make your idea a reality, feel free to contact me or one of my cats! We’d be delighted to start working with you!
